How would this be for my silver standard poodle whom is my service dog so he wears a full vest several hours a day Isle Of Dogs Salon Elements Stand (up) Shampoo (Gallon)

He gets matts under the Velcro bands around his chest and two around the belly, he has a pony cut and it seems to be breaking his hair where it rubs. I use a long wire to brush him first, followed by a comb every day.. any suggestions?
